Out-of-the-Box Extremists
HMC is also known for its innovation in taking packages such as SharePoint, to the extreme of out-of-the box functionality. Many consulting organizations at their core are development houses or IT Pro shops. HMC at its core is about business and helping our customers achieve their goals by leveraging what they already have. One of the biggest frustrations for many organizations is the support needed for custom application development. HMC specializes in developing flexible systems that can be managed and modified by internal staff, without constant reliance on our consultants and services. We feel it is important to develop systems our customers can support, and not ones that "marry" them to us. As a "case in point" - HMC recently completed a project for Medtronic, one the largest medical manufacturers in the world. In this project, HMC worked with the Medtronic staff to develop a SharePoint solution that manages the submission, testing, and packaging of over 58,000 individual software titles to assist in their migration to Windows Vista during 2009. The solution provides the flexibility for multiple users, vendors and internal staff to work on individual components of the entire process. HMC built the entire solution using out-of-the box functionality of SharePoint and only 3 areas (out of 100+) required a few lines of custom code.

HMC is brought into customer situations all over the country, even the world, for its expertise and unique project approaches. Our consultants both travel for onsite work as well as work remotely on many customer projects. Recently our consultants have traveled to such areas as Quebec Canada, Greenville South Carolina, Houston Texas, and Atlanta Georgia. Our flexibility around travel and our blend of onsite and offsite work, has offered our customers maximum flexibility while minimizing overhead.

Our president, Virgil Carroll, speaks all around the world on the business side of SharePoint technologies and how to keep business as the main focus on any implementation project. In the recent past he traveled to both San Diego, California and London, England to continue spreading the important message of keeping business first.
