HMC was engaged by Medtronic for two projects.

SharePoint Language Variations
High Monkey was engaged to create a process for Medtronic to manage content versions between English source content and content that is translated into nine other languages. The content provides Medtronic’s worldwide employee base with technology training information related to a planned desktop migration to Windows Vista for 40,000+ employees. HMC also built a custom coded synchronization engine for Medtronic specific items that needed to be shared across all languages but could not be accomplished out of the box.

SharePoint Workflow Management
High Monkey created a seven step multi-state workflow using SharePoint Designer and “out-of-the-box” SharePoint functionality to manage the registration, documentation, testing, packaging, and deployment of more than 58,000 software applications to ensure compatibility with the Windows Vista operating system. This application was developed to address the needs of allowing multiple individuals, resources, and outside vendors to interact with the management process on an individual software item basis. HMC built the entire solution using out-of-the box functionality of SharePoint and only 3 areas (out of 100+) required a few lines of custom code. This application also included security trimming and permissions based on user roles.

Both of the projects HMC delivered for Medtronic included graphical design and page layout to deliver both a unique brand identity while complying with Medtronic’s well defined branding standards. The design results met the branding needs of the Medtronic team and worked seamlessly with their SharePoint environment.

HMC also delivered extensive documentation for both the languages variations and workflow management solutions. In fact, our documentation was so thorough, that Medtronic considers the HMC format and approach to be a high standard that all internal SharePoint documentation should follow.
