Trustees for Alaska is a public interest law firm whose mission is to provide legal counsel to sustain and protect Alaska's natural environment. TFA represents local and national environmental groups, Alaska Native villages and nonprofit organizations, community groups, hunters, fishers and others where the outcome of their advocacy could benefit Alaska's environment. TFA identified a need for a more sophisticated web presence that would create a stronger brand identify, provide greater flexibility in how they update and manage information, and enable easy delivery of information via the web. High Monkey worked with TFA to identify the specific goals for their website and the technologies that would be used to meet their needs.

High Monkey’s three stage design process (alpha, beta, release) provided TFA with a number of branding design alternatives to consider. The release design was arrived at after a number of conference call discussions and online meetings throughout the design process. High Monkey proposed that the new TFA website be architected using the Kentico content management system. The use of a CMS allowed the TFA to distribute the responsibility for web content updates among multiple individuals and provided the flexibility of updates via a web browser anywhere and anytime. The flexibility and built-in features of the Kentico CMS platform allows the TFA to expand the capabilities of their website in the future to include; discussion groups, blogs, secure content areas, event calendars, newsletter and email management, and other Web 2.0 capabilities.

High Monkey also created and integrated into the new TFA website, an easy to use visual map using Google Maps. This map solution provides a visual reference to view specific locations that are part of TFA’s current environmental projects. As with the choice of the Kentico CMS, the selection of Google Maps provides TFA with the flexibility to add additional features and functionality in the future.

Finally, High Monkey provided TFA with documentation and training around the process for updating and creating new website content. This is in keeping with our commitment to ensure that clients are not dependent on High Monkey and are the owners of their website and its content. The new TFA website was successfully launched March 2010.
