Medtronic - Endovascular Global Medical Affairs:
medtronic.com | View HMC Portfolio
HMC was engaged by the Endovascular Global Medical Affairs division at Medtronic to develop an extensive portal to house a large library of articles, clinical trials, a calendar of events & meetings, evidence tracking, and other resources. Developed in MOSS 2007, High Monkey helped bring the department’s goals to light, including: workflows, advanced filtering, newsletters, and dynamic branding & design throughout.
MOSS 2007 Development
Using an out-of-the-box approach, HMC developed the portal to comply with internal Medtronic ‘no-code’ standards. Providing innovative development at every turn, the new portal includes an extensive, workflow-driven evidence tracking system that allows EGMA users to track individual evidence projects from inception to publication. Built entirely using out-of-the-box SharePoint Designer forms and workflows, this streamlined process provides users with instant access to important information / tasks and controlled interactions, while maintaining a comprehensive log of all activities automatically. EGMA staff are able to quickly view/manage project progress through the ‘evidence dashboard’, which provides them with a snapshot of project statuses and processes in progress.
Branding & Design
The new EGMA SharePoint portal needed a revamp from their old look. HMC transformed the department’s identity by implementing: masterpage templates, unique graphical elements & icons, marketing collateral such as posters and mugs, newsletter templates, and much more. The new design & layouts deliver a unique brand identity while still complying with Medtronic’s well-defined branding standards. The design results exceeded the team’s expectations and they will be implementing additional features for Phase II of the project.
The portal, since launch, has gotten incredible attention. It has exceeded expectations so much that the general manager of Endovascular is promoting it as “Best in Class” for the Cardiovascular division. In addition, the portal site has been nominated for a Medtronic “Star of Excellence” award. High Monkey went over and above with this project and EGMA is scheduling Phase II for additional upgrades and features. We anticipate converting the site to SharePoint 2010 as a pilot for future Medtronic SharePoint sites. Phase II is scheduled for fall of 2010.
