John Wiley & Sons:
wiley.com
John Wiley & Sons, Inc., operating since 1807, is an international, highly renowned publisher of print and electronic products that employs approximately 3,500 staff members worldwide. They are best known as a leading publisher of scientific and technical books and journals as well as textbooks and other educational materials for students of all ages.
As the authors of a chemistry textbook for college freshmen, Wiley needed to provide an electronic accompaniment to the textbook that would help students understand abstract chemistry concepts. Both the publisher and the authors (professors at California State University – Fullerton) wanted to integrate rich animations and interactive media to stimulate the learning of a complex subject by today's technologically savvy students.
High Monkey Consulting worked closely with the publisher and their educational team to convert learning objectives into a creative and timely deliverable. We provided high level game programming and brought static textbook images to life with custom animated learning objects, which can be delivered across the web as well as through CD. Through these animations, students are able to visualize complex chemical reactions and understand concepts that are difficult to grasp through static imagery. College freshman have benefited greatly from the visualization they receive with this interactive chemistry program.
