“I have found Virgil to
be fun to work with; his expectations and demands are reasonable, and he (from my experience) exhibits a sense of urgency on behalf of his clients. I always felt Virgil communicated the project plan so I had the info I would need to do my part.”

2008 Best Practices SharePoint Conference:

09/15/08 - 09/17/08 ~ Washington, D.C.

How to Facilitate the Government out of Governance

Mon. September 15th ~ 2:20 - 3:30pm EST

When you hear the word governance, one often thinks only about control...controlling the way we think, the way we work and what we can and cannot do. From an IT perspective, governance planning and implementation is a much needed piece to maintain control around a SharePoint collaborative environment. From an end-user perspective, governance is often perceived as excessive control and limitations. In this session we will explore how to plan out the controls, checks and balances we need to put in place while not forgetting that the main ingredient in any good system is the end user that wants to use it. We will look at how to plan, control and monitor the growth of our systems to ‘facilitate' the end user experience and increase the overall success of our SharePoint implementation.

SharePoint Security Pitfalls and Practices

Tues. September 16th ~ 10:20 - 11:30am EST

Often times organization ‘dig themselves into a hole' in manners of security in their SharePoint implementations. Many either get too granular with permissions or keep their security structure ambiguous, insecure & inflexible. In this session, we will look at best practice security planning strategies including effective use of security group development, audience targeting and security discipline. Attendees will be walked through the security planning process through an interactive discussion model and work with documentation successfully used in the past to assist with deployment and management.
